More on the Pine Bear Artist (he carves antler too)

Pine_bear_closeup Several people have inquired as to the identity and location of the pine-needle bear artist. How cool is this close-up of his work?

Supposedly he is Richard Carpenter from Idaho, and his email is mntmagic@custerel.net. I cannot confirm any of that, it's just what I got in an email. A follow-up email said: I know the artist would love to hear from you, just to know where his art is being seen around the world. He said he would reply to every email. Again, I put it out there, but cannot confirm.

I also learned that he carves antler, too. Check out the detail in the moose artwork below, pretty amazing.

FYI, after that first post w/the bear Doug in WI blogged: I emailed the artist (I assume at the same address as above) and told him about seeing the bear and how impressed we all were. I got a reply that said it takes him 3 months to make a bear cub and 8 months to make a large bear. He said he sold a cub for $5000 and had another if I was interested, lol...

Have a nice weekend.

Thats awesome!

Antler carving is amazing!

That antler is amazing. I can't even TRACE something and get that much detail lol...I do have a question though. Does he use a taxidermy form for the bears? Can't really think of how else he would get the thing to stand...

Very cool artwork. I can't imagine the time it takes to get something like that done.
